MSIG Asia Announces Two Senior Leadership Appointments

MSIG Asia has announced two senior leadership appointments, with CEO Clemens Philippi assuming an expanded role within the MS&AD Insurance Group and Norihiro Tanaka being named chairman of MSIG Asia.

Clemens Philippi, currently chief executive officer of MSIG Asia and executive officer at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI) Japan, has been appointed executive officer of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (MS&AD) and chief strategy officer for the group’s international business. In his expanded role, Philippi will help shape and drive the group’s international growth strategy.

He will jointly lead MS&AD’s international strategy alongside Keisuke Ema, general manager of MSI Japan’s international business department, and will report to Hironori Morimoto, group chief global officer of MS&AD.

New Chairman Appointment

MSIG Asia also announced the appointment of Norihiro Tanaka as chairman, succeeding Tetsuya Adachi, who will conclude his tenure with the group.

Tanaka, who will additionally serve as an executive officer of MS&AD, brings more than 30 years of industry experience. He currently serves as executive officer and head of planning at MSIG Asia. Prior to this role, Tanaka held several senior leadership positions including general manager at MS Amlin Underwriting and head of liability and cyber at MSI Japan.
