Meta Platforms has named Dhruv Vohra managing director of its Global Business Group for Southeast Asia, putting the seven-year company veteran in charge of commercial operations in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Vohra, who is based in Singapore, reports to Benjamin Joe, Meta’s vice-president for Asia-Pacific, the company said on September 30. He will lead the teams that work with the region’s advertisers and agencies, and oversee Meta’s partnerships across those six markets.

The appointment follows the departure of Sandhya Devanathan, who had led Meta’s India and Southeast Asia business as vice-president since June 2025. She announced in August that she was leaving to join OpenAI in Singapore, where she would oversee the ChatGPT maker’s operations in Southeast Asia and Australia. Meta’s India managing director, Arun Srinivas, now also reports directly to Joe, TechCrunch reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

AI and Messaging at the Centre

“Southeast Asia is one of Meta’s fastest-growing business regions, and the work ahead is helping businesses leverage AI and messaging at the pace their customers already expect,” said Joe. He added that Vohra had built the teams that support millions of businesses in the region.

Vohra said the region had been an early adopter of trends such as business messaging and live shopping. “No two markets here behave the same way, and the businesses growing fastest here have outgrown the borders they started in,” he said. “AI has opened up even more possibilities.”

Meta does not report Southeast Asian revenue separately. Revenue from its wider Asia-Pacific user base rose 19% YoY in the second quarter of 2026, compared with 24% in Europe, 32% in the US and Canada, and 36% in the rest of the world, according to its quarterly filing. The company says most of its ad impression growth comes from regions that monetise at lower rates, such as Asia-Pacific.

From E-Commerce to Small Business

Vohra joined Meta in 2019 as director and head of sales for e-commerce and digital native businesses. He became managing director for the company’s mid-market segment in Southeast Asia in 2021. In 2023, he took charge of its small and medium-sized business group across Asia-Pacific.

Before Meta, he spent more than eight years at Google. He joined the company in India in 2011 and later moved to Singapore, where he led apps, commerce and entertainment across Asia-Pacific.

His task now is to grow advertiser spending across six markets that, by his own account, behave differently from one another, with AI and business messaging at the centre of Meta’s pitch.
