Sydney-headquartered insurer QBE Insurance Group has appointed Carles Tondo as head of property for Asia, strengthening its regional leadership team as it looks to grow its property portfolio across key markets.

Based in Singapore, Tondo will report to Stephen Geisler, CEO of South Asia. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving the growth of QBE Asia’s property business, overseeing product strategy, pricing and portfolio management, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across the region. He will also manage regional performance for designated business lines and work closely with stakeholders to enhance client and broker relationships.

Tondo brings 17 years of insurance experience, with a strong background in property underwriting spanning Spain, Switzerland and Malaysia. He joins QBE from Chubb, where he most recently served as head of property and technical lines for Singapore.

He takes over the property portfolio from Brendan Dunlea, regional head of construction and engineering at QBE Asia. Dunlea will continue to lead the construction, engineering, renewables and power generation businesses, and will focus on building QBE Asia’s resilience vertical, reporting to Ronak Shah, CEO of wholesale markets, Asia.

The appointment reflects QBE’s continued investment in expanding its property capabilities and strengthening its presence in the Asian market.
