In 2025, more than 10 major power outages affected over 1.2 billion people worldwide, underscoring the need for stable and resilient power systems.

As countries accelerate carbon neutrality goals, power grids face increasing complexity from renewable energy integration, electrification, and variable loads. These changes require greater system flexibility and control.

Jason Li, President of Global Marketing & Solutions, Electric Power Digitalization BU at Huawei, stated that power grids are evolving beyond transmission systems to become central to the energy transition. He noted that automation alone is no longer sufficient and that digitalization and artificial intelligence are becoming core elements of power generation and grid operations.

According to Li, integrating digital technologies, telecommunications, and AI into power system operations can improve grid stability and flexibility.

The growing deployment of distributed photovoltaic systems, energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and load-side interaction presents new challenges for distribution networks. Li emphasized that addressing these challenges requires improved visibility at the 400V low-voltage level.
