Manulife has reinforced its artificial intelligence capabilities in Hong Kong with a new senior appointment and the relocation of a regional AI leader, supporting its vision to become an AI-powered organization.

Hongjuan Liu has been appointed Chief AI and Data Officer for Hong Kong and Macau. He will report directly to Patrick Graham, CEO of Hong Kong and Macau, and functionally to Mark Czajkowski, Chief AI Officer, Asia, who has relocated from Singapore to Hong Kong.

Liu brings more than 20 years of experience in AI, data strategy, analytics, and digital transformation across multiple industries and geographies, most recently serving as Vice President, Data at McDonald’s China. Czajkowski, with over 20 years of experience in marketing, analytics, and AI-driven strategy, previously held the roles of Chief Analytics Officer for Asia and Chief Marketing Officer for Singapore at Manulife.

“This appointment strengthens Hong Kong as a regional AI center of excellence and advances our goal to be an AI-powered organization,” said Patrick Graham. “The Hong Kong SAR Government’s latest policy initiatives in the 2026-27 Budget, along with the Insurance Authority’s AI Cohort Program, create a robust ecosystem for AI innovation and regulation, which we are excited to leverage.”

Manulife has made significant progress in AI adoption globally, with 100% of its workforce covered by its proprietary GenAI assistant, 91 AI use cases in production, and another 121 in development as of the end of 2025. In Hong Kong, recent achievements include an AI-powered customer chatbot, GenAI tools for agents, an AI assistant for underwriting information, and investments in talent programs to foster AI expertise.

“The strengthening of AI leadership and capabilities in Hong Kong underscores our commitment to delivering innovative solutions and transforming the customer and agent experience through AI,” said Liu.
