HSBC today announced the appointment of Desmond Kuang as Chief Investment Officer, Asia, for HSBC Private Bank and Premier Wealth, effective July 6, 2026.

Based in Singapore, Kuang will take on a regional mandate aimed at strengthening the delivery of investment insights and strategy for private banking and premier clients across Asia. The role reflects HSBC’s continued focus on enhancing its wealth management capabilities in key growth markets.

Singapore, a major international wealth hub with strong connectivity across Asia, has been selected as the base for this regional position. In his new role, Kuang will work closely with teams and clients across multiple markets in the region.

As Chief Investment Officer, Asia, Kuang will be responsible for developing regional investment strategies and themes across all asset classes for private banking and premier clients, excluding Hong Kong.

Kuang brings over 20 years of experience in the banking industry, with a strong background in asset management and investment research. He currently serves as Chief Investment Officer, China, and Interim Head of Wealth and Premier Solutions, China, at HSBC.

Prior to joining HSBC, Kuang was a portfolio manager at Income Partners Asset Management and later served as General Manager and Head of Investment for Mainland China.

The appointment underscores HSBC’s commitment to strengthening its investment leadership and delivering tailored wealth solutions to clients across Asia.
